Hard to believe it's October! A hint of fall color is definitely noticeable. Zinnias and marigolds have run their course and baby lavenders are in the ground. This year I opted to go with only Lavender 'Phenomenal', a variety similar to Grosso lavender with reported excellent winter hardiness (hopefully). As of today, the back field is planted in a winter cover crop (oats, turnips, and red clover) and the forecast calls for rain tomorrow and Saturday. We need it.
The countdown to Fall Open Farm Day is underway. Save the date: Sunday, October 26, 1 to 5 pm, rain or shine. Details are being fine-tuned.
